Dayna Middlestead, DVM, DACVS-SA
Dr. Middlestead is part of our Hunt Valley surgical team. A native of Coatesville, PA, she started her career in veterinary medicine as a Certified Veterinary Technician after graduating from Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA. Her interest in small animal surgery grew during her practicum, at which time she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from West Chester University.
Dr. Middlestead attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, located in the lovely St. Kitts, and completed her clinical year at University of Missouri, graduating in 2015. Following graduation, she completed a one-year small animal medicine and surgery internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of the Carolinas, located in Cary, NC. In 2016, she relocated to Maryland, where she completed a one- year small animal surgical internship with Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists (CVSS), rotating between the Towson (now located in Hunt Valley) and Annapolis offices. Upon completion, she accepted a three-year surgical residency with CVSS. She completed her surgical residency in June 2020 and remained on staff with CVSS. In 2026, Dr. Middlestead passed the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) board examination and carries diplomate status. Dr. Middlestead is certified in the PennHIP procedure, which is currently being offered at the Hunt Valley location.
During her “free time”, Dr. Middlestead enjoys spending time outdoors with her two dogs, Chooch (Bull mastiff/Rottweiler) and Willow (Scruffy mutt). She also enjoys visiting the quiet beaches of Lewes, DE with her family. Dr. Middlestead’s Professional Memberships include: Veterinary Orthopedic Society (VOS), Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncology (VSSO), North American AO Vet, American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Maryland Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) and Anne Arundel Veterinary Medical Association (AAVMA).
