Chris Gauthier, DVM, MS

Dr. Chris Gauthier grew up in south Florida. He attended the University of Florida and earned a B.S. in Zoology and a M.S. in Business Management. In 2010, he graduated cum laude with his veterinary degree from the University of Florida. He then went on to complete an internship at Tufts University, a surgical internship at the VCA Animal Specialty Center of South Carolina, and an M.S. degree and residency in small animal surgery at Colorado State University. He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2016. Prior to joining Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists, he worked as a staff surgeon at Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, Maryland and Charleston Veterinary Referral Center in Charleston, South Carolina.
He is a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Veterinary Orthopedic Society (VOS), Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncology (VSSO), and Society of Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgery.

Dr. Gauthier’s special interests include minimally invasive surgery, surgical oncology, orthopedics, and wound management. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his wife Zahra, daughter Margot, son Ari and dog Madeline.
