Corinne Buirkle, VMD, MS, DACVS-SA
Dr. Buirkle grew up in Mahwah, New Jersey and started her veterinary career in high school when she began working at a local veterinary hospital. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Maryland in 2012 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016.
During her time in veterinary school, she traveled to Nicaragua with World Vets and ended up returning with both improved surgical knowledge as well as a new dog. She then completed a small animal rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City in 2017. Dr. Buirkle then moved to the south, where she went on to complete two small animal surgical internships at Louisiana State University and Auburn University in 2018 and 2019, respectively. She then stayed at Auburn University and completed a small animal surgical residency and obtained a Master of Science degree in biomedical sciences in 2022. In August 2022, Dr. Buirkle joined Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists. She passed the American College of Veterinary Surgeons board examination in 2023 and carries diplomate status.
After many years in the south, Dr. Buirkle is excited to be back in the Northeast, and more importantly to the snow. During her free time, Dr. Buirkle enjoys spending time with her dog, Nika, and her cat, Saki, who she rescued during her time in Alabama. She also loves spending time outdoors on the water, snow skiing, and early mornings at the gym.
