Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists is a part of the Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC), a specialty veterinary hospital and emergency center offering ten medical and rehabilitation disciplines for dogs and cats, including: cardiology, emergency, internal medicine, oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation, radiology, radiation therapy and surgery.

Our staff is among the best of the best in advanced veterinary surgery, anesthesia management, in-hospital care and canine rehabilitation. What began in 1992 as a single location in Annapolis, Maryland’s capital city, grew over the last 25 years to include an additional location in Baltimore. In 2023, our Baltimore-area hospital relocated to a brand new, 46,000 square foot facility in Cockeysville, Maryland where no expense is spared on providing the best environment for advanced veterinary surgery.
Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists is a member of Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center (link to CVRC website) a coalition of board-certified veterinary specialists in the disciplines of emergency medicine and critical care, surgery, canine rehabilitation, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, eye care, neurology and advanced imaging. All three CVSS locations are co-located with 24-hour emergency practices that offer around-the-clock monitoring and intensive care for our patients. Our direct access to a multitude of other veterinary specialists in all three of our locations means that we are able to offer cross-specialty care for the most complex cases.

In 2023 our Baltimore-area practice is moving to Cockeysville, a suburb north of the city in the rolling hills of renowned Maryland horse country. If you prefer city dwelling, Baltimore offers a host of neighborhoods from sleek, waterfront living in Port Covington to the pubs, bakeries and shops of Canton and Hampden. Baltimore also offers some of the country’s best higher education and healthcare with the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University anchoring either end of the city. Sports fans can catch Orioles games at Camden Yards and watch a Ravens game at M&T Bank Stadium.
