Dr. Anders grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and obtained his Bachelor of Science combined degree in psychology and sociology from James Madison University in Virginia. While studying at the University Of Georgia College Of Veterinary Medicine he participated in rotations at the National Aquarium, Baltimore, Riverbanks and National Zoo. Following graduation in 2000 he completed a small animal rotating internship at the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, Virginia and then worked as a relief veterinarian for the Baltimore Zoo.

After spending two years working in general practice and one year as an emergency veterinarian in Brooklyn, NY he was accepted as a surgical intern at Garden State Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls, NJ. He stayed for a surgical residency which concluded in 2008. While there he researched auditory function in cats prior to, and following, nasopharyngeal polyp removal, and he developed his surgical interests for urogenital procedures and minimally invasive orthopedic repair.

Dr. Anders became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2010. He joined Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists (CVSS) in June of 2010 and is based in our Towson office.

He is a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), Veterinary Orthopedic Society (VOS), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA).

Dr. Anders was married in September of 2011 and has embraced the recent move to the Baltimore area. In his free time he enjoys attending concerts and collecting music. Dr. Anders also collects and seeks out domestic craft brewed beer. Currently he lives with two Jack Russell terriers adopted through marriage and he looks forward to rescuing a large breed mutt in the near future.
