Louren Carlino, DVM, CCRT, CVA

Dr. Carlino is from Baton Rouge, LA. In 2005 she graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine (LSU-SVM). She then spent two years at a busy small animal general practice in Las Vegas, NV. In 2007 she returned to the Baton Rouge area and did relief work before joining the staff at All Pets Hospital as an Associate Veterinarian in 2010.

Dr. Carlino’s first experience with physical therapy was in 2009 after she tore her ACL playing soccer. This traumatic injury sparked an interest in how she could apply some of the techniques to her veterinary patients to help relieve pain and return to full function. She became certified by the Canine Rehabilitation Institute as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) in 2015. She then became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) in 2016 through the Chi Institute of Veterinary Medicine in Reddick, FL.  She had the opportunity to gain more experience through a year long (2017-2018) internship at LSU-SVM as an Integrative Medicine and Rehabilitation Intern. Upon completion of the internship Dr. Carlino opened her own integrative medicine referral practice offering exclusively acupuncture, laser therapy, canine rehabilitation, and herbal supplements. Dr. Carlino finds this niche of veterinary medicine very rewarding. She enjoys helping patients improve their mobility, function, and overall quality of life.

Dr. Carlino is excited to join and work with the Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists (CVSS) rehabilitation team. She would like to continue to learn more rehabilitation techniques and practices in order to best help her patients.  She is also excited to explore the beautiful state of Maryland because she enjoys outdoor activities including hiking and camping. She has a lab mix, a calico cat, and an African grey parrot.
