Referring Veterinarians

Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists is committed to providing excellent surgical care for your referred patients. We understand the importance of the relationship between a patient and their primary care veterinarian, and we will utilize our surgical expertise and consistent communication to enhance that relationship. We will work closely with you so that your patient’s immediate and long term goals can be achieved, will communicate with you through every step of the diagnosis or treatment and send you a complete copy of your patient’s medical records upon discharge. We will not offer your patient any routine veterinary care or other primary veterinary care, and follow-up evaluations may be performed at your primary care facility whenever possible.

We utilize rVetLink to create a portal between our hospitals so that information can be freely and automatically exchanged. This service is free for you to use, but does require registration. Click the link below learn more and to sign up.

Please feel welcome to call our hospital to obtain an estimate for surgery prior to referral, or to review a potential surgical case with one of our surgical specialists prior to referral.

To refer a patient to our surgeons, please utilize the rVetLink portal,  fill out our patient referral form, or call our office during normal business hours to discuss your case with one of our veterinary staff.  Prior to your patient’s appointment, we would appreciate it if you would fax pertinent patient information to our office or you may give hard copies to your client to bring to the first appointment.

We deeply value our relationships with the referring veterinary community and aim to support you and your patients to the highest degree. Your trust in our team means the world to us and we thank you for your continued support.
