Diana Huey, RVT, CCRA
She enrolled at Essex pursuing an Associates’ Degree in Animal Science and continued working as a veterinary assistant. Diana joined the team at Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists (CVSS) in 2003. After completing her boards for Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in 2004, she continued at CVSS with her RVT credentials allowing her to have more responsibility and focus in surgical specialty.
As CVSS sought to expand their practice in the area of Canine Rehabilitation, Diana was offered the opportunity to attend the Canine Rehabilitation Institute (CRI) to pursue of certification in canine rehabilitation. CRI offers multiple certification programs; including one specifically designed for Registered Veterinary Technicians to expand on their existing veterinary knowledge and build a rehabilitation knowledge base. After completing her coursework and examination, she became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Assistant (CCRA) in 2009.
Since her 2009 CCRA certification, she has divided her time at CVSS with surgery and canine rehabilitation responsibilities. Diana enjoys the opportunity to follow her canine patients along the continuum of care from surgery through the rehabilitation process. Employing direct patient care, owner education, and modalities such as aquatic therapy and the underwater treadmill, she assists her patients in getting back to their happy, full lives with their owners. As further courses and clinical training becomes available, Diana is pursuing opportunities to learn advanced rehabilitation techniques including manual therapy, advanced pain management, and cold laser therapy.
Diana lives in Parkville, Maryland with her husband and young daughter. In their free time, they enjoy day trips and camping as a family. Her home has been open to numerous rescues over the years and although she currently has just one cat, it won’t stay that way for long.
